How Doctors Conveniently Get Up To Date Drug Information Even on Vacation
Scottsdale, Ariz., September 18 -- It was just a typical day at Clinical
Information Network's Video Call Center in Scottsdale, Ariz. Busy physicians
throughout the U.S. were taking advantage of the convenience of using their
computers to initiate live onscreen face-to-face meetings with pharmaceutical
executives who were able to answer their questions and provide them with
valuable information about their company's prescription products and other clinical
information.
In fact, physicians have frequently told the company's Management that they really
like the convenience of being able to use Clinical InfoNET at times and in places of
their convenience. "They like being able to get important clinical and product
information when and where they want it," stated Peter Moriarty, CEO of Clinical
Information Network, "via the Clinical InfoNET system, and many of them make
regular monthly calls to pharmaceutical companies just to keep up to date."
However, one particular call that came in that day really proved the point of
convenience.
It was just after 10 a.m. on that Thursday morning when, Karen Chemodurow, one
of the executives representing a particular pharmaceutical company, accepted the
next call. However, this call was different from all of the others that she had received
that morning. This call was from Dr. Gary Spector, who is a Primary
Care physician based in Connecticut, and a regular user of Clinical InfoNET. On
this occasion, however, he was calling from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he was
on vacation visiting his in-laws.
Afterwards, Dr. Spector commented, "I was able to receive the same great info
from Karen as I do in my office or from home. The connection and procedure
were easy as pie." He added, with a chuckle, "She could have spoken to me in
Portuguese."
Prior to the call from Brazil, another story made its way to Clinical Information
Network's corporate offices. A live, two-way video call was conducted from a
laptop downloaded with the Clinical InfoNET software from 30,000+ feet... using
the Wi-Fi Internet services that are offered on a small but increasing number of
airlines.
"It's both amusing and rewarding to hear anecdotal stories about the convenience
and ease of use of our Clinical InfoNET system, whether generated from another
continent or from five-miles up in the sky," stated Moriarty. "We developed our
video conferencing application with the physician in mind. We wanted to have an
application that had high quality video and audio, and that was enormously secure
(HIPAA compliant), while also being really easy to use, even for the most
technophobic physician."
"We've achieved exactly that with Clinical InfoNET," Moriarty added, "which is why
it's used for physician to physician communications in hospital and in offices, as
well as for keeping up-to-date with clinical information from our pharmaceutical
clients."
